Moving from one Grand Lakes phase to another, or across Fry Road into Cinco Ranch? Our local crews handle Katy-area moves by the hour, with packing, padding and reassembly built in.
Katy-area moves
Around Grand Lakes
Grand Lakes is split by the Grand Parkway. Phases 1, 2 and 3 sit between Fry Road and the parkway, while Phase 4 lies to the west toward Peek Road. A move between phases may look short on a map, but it can involve crossing State Highway 99 at specific points. We plan the route before move day so the truck uses the most direct entrance and avoids backing down long residential streets.
Local moves here often stay in the Katy area. Families move north into Cinco Ranch, next door into Seven Meadows, or into newer communities further west. Others move closer to I-10 or the Westpark Tollway to shorten a daily commute. Because Grand Lakes homes were mostly built between the late 1990s and 2008, sellers moving out often have years of garage and attic storage to sort, which our estate cleanout and hauling service can help with.
School calendars affect local move timing in this part of Katy ISD. Alexander Elementary, Beckendorff Junior High and Seven Lakes High School all serve Grand Lakes, and Seven Lakes on South Fry Road brings heavy morning and afternoon traffic. Summer is the most popular time for families to move between schools, and May through August is also our busiest season, so booking early helps you secure the date you want.
FAQ's
What Grand Lakes homeowners ask before a local move.
Yes. Cinco Ranch sits just north of Grand Lakes, and moves between them, or anywhere else in the Katy and greater Houston area, are local moves. They are billed hourly for actual time, with furniture disassembly and reassembly included at no extra fee.
Usually, yes. If parked cars or a tight turn make it difficult, we park at the curb nearby and use dollies for a short carry. Long carries are never extra with Tera Moving, so the parking situation will not change your rate.
At least one week ahead is a good rule. The end of each month and the May through August season fill fastest. Mid-week, mid-month dates usually have more openings, and we fit in last-minute moves when the schedule allows.
Yes. Pianos, gun safes, slate pool tables, hot tubs and home gym equipment get a specialty crew and the right tools. A small specialty handling fee may apply, and we always quote it before move day.
We keep working through normal rain, using shrink-wrap, waterproof pads and floor protectors to keep furniture and floors dry. If conditions become unsafe, such as thunderstorms or a hurricane warning, we reschedule your Grand Lakes move with no fee and help you pick the next open date.
Thank you for considering us for your moving needs. We will get back to you during normal business hours.
