The Memorial Villages are mostly residential, but businesses, schools and churches line their edges, from Hedwig Village's Katy Freeway frontage to the Woodway office complex in Piney Point. Our commercial crews plan moves that keep downtime short.
Business moves, planned
Where business happens
Commerce in the Villages is concentrated, not spread out. Hedwig Village zones its periphery for business and reports more than 500 businesses and a daytime population of roughly 30,000, far above its 2,500 or so residents. The Hedwig Village Shopping Center sits on the south side of the Katy Freeway, and across the highway the Village Plaza at Bunker Hill is anchored by an H-E-B. By contrast, Piney Point Village restricts business inside its limits, and single-family homes make up almost all of Bunker Hill Village's appraised value.
That mix shapes the moves we see. Retail tenants change spaces along the freeway frontage roads, medical and professional offices move between buildings near Memorial City, and schools and churches inside the Villages relocate classrooms, offices and storage over breaks. In Piney Point, City Hall itself sits in the 7676 Woodway office complex, a reminder that office space exists even in a village that bars most commerce.
Rules vary by city. Hedwig Village lets permitted commercial construction run 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day of the week, while Bunker Hill and Piney Point prohibit permitted construction on Sundays. A moving crew is not a construction crew, but those windows tell us when neighbors and officials expect activity. We confirm loading times with your landlord or facilities lead and line up any build-out so movers and contractors are not working in the same room.
FAQ's
Common questions from businesses, schools and institutions in and around the Memorial Villages.
Fewer than in most of Houston. Hedwig Village has the largest commercial area, with more than 500 businesses along its edges and the Katy Freeway. Piney Point Village restricts business, and Bunker Hill's tax base is almost entirely single-family homes. Many of our commercial jobs here are schools, churches and offices just outside village lines.
Yes. We schedule commercial relocations after hours, overnight and on weekends to keep downtime low. Weekend work is billed at the same rate as weekdays. For a shop on the Katy Freeway frontage, that can mean closing Saturday evening and opening Monday morning in the new space with fixtures, stock and furniture already in place.
Yes, at no extra cost. We also coordinate elevator reservations and dock access with building management so the move is approved before the truck arrives. Tell us the property manager's contact when you book, and we will send the certificate with the exact wording and limits the building asks for.
Yes. Several of the largest water users in Bunker Hill Village are churches, a retreat center and the school district, and the Villages are home to campuses such as The Kinkaid School and St. Francis Episcopal School. We move classroom furniture, office contents, pianos and storage, usually during breaks.
Yes. Pianos, gym equipment, gun safes and artwork are part of our specialty work, and artwork can be custom crated. Oversized items may carry a small specialty handling fee, always quoted before the job. A medical practice or fitness studio moving out of a Villages-area building gets the same advance plan for each heavy or delicate piece.
Thank you for considering us for your moving needs. We will get back to you during normal business hours.
