Moving from Piney Point to Bunker Hill, downsizing from Hunters Creek into a Spring Valley patio home, or clearing out a ranch house before a rebuild? Our local crews handle short moves inside and around the Villages by the hour.
Short moves, done right
Moving within the Villages
Many local moves here never leave ZIP code 77024. Families trade a Hedwig Village ranch for a larger lot in Piney Point, or move out of a Hunters Creek house for a year while a new one goes up on the same site. Because each village is its own city, the house you leave and the house you move into may answer to different permit offices, police departments and trash haulers, even when they are a few streets apart. We note both addresses' city before move day so nothing surprises the crew.
Memorial Drive carries much of the traffic between villages, and it is only two lanes wide through Hunters Creek, Piney Point and most of Bunker Hill. Side streets wind under heavy tree cover, and many homes sit far back on deep lots. For local moves we usually bring a crew big enough to keep the carry moving and position the truck where it does not pinch a lane. Drop-off and pickup at Memorial High School on Echo Lane and the neighborhood elementary schools can slow streets on weekdays, so we time arrival around them.
Rebuild moves are common in the Villages, where older houses are often replaced with new custom homes. That usually means two local moves with storage in between: one out of the original house and one into the finished build. Hedwig Village, for one, tells builders that furniture cannot go into a new home until final inspections pass and a certificate of occupancy is issued, so we schedule the return trip only after your builder confirms the house is cleared.
FAQ's
Answers for people moving a short distance within or near the Memorial Villages.
Local moves are hourly, and you pay only for the time the crew works. The deposit equals the two-hour minimum and is refundable with 48 hours' notice. There is no fee for stairs or long carries, and furniture assembly is included. Oversized pieces such as a gun safe or grand piano may carry a small specialty fee that we quote up front.
Yes. We pack and load the original house, store your belongings overnight, by the week or month to month, and deliver them to the new home when it is ready. In Hedwig Village, furniture cannot go into a new home until final inspections pass and a certificate of occupancy is issued.
Yes, at the same rate as weekdays. Weekends near the end of the month and summer weekends fill first, so a mid-week, mid-month date gives you more choice. We recommend booking at least one week ahead for a local Villages move.
We try hard not to. Memorial Drive is two lanes through most of the Villages, so we plan to load from the driveway or a side street whenever the property allows, and we place cones and keep the job tidy when we do need to stop near the road.
Yes. Uprights, baby grands and grands, gun safes (including stair work), hot tubs and slate pool tables are part of what we move. Pool tables need advance notice and a specialty crew, so tell us about them when you book.
Thank you for considering us for your moving needs. We will get back to you during normal business hours.
