Moving from Panther Creek to Alden Bridge, or downsizing from a family house into a smaller place near Town Center? Tera Moving handles short moves inside The Woodlands with hourly billing and crews who plan around Township rules.
In-town moves made simple
Village to village
Most moves we run in The Woodlands are short hops between villages, and those villages differ more than newcomers expect. Indian Springs is the only village with hilly terrain, which can mean sloped driveways and more careful dolly work. Alden Bridge, one of the largest villages, borders Jones State Forest. College Park holds Lone Star College-University Center and the Sam Houston State University center in The Woodlands, along with hospitals and active adult communities. We factor these differences into crew size and timing during the walkthrough.
Trash rules come up on almost every local move. Each home has a 96-gallon green-lid trash cart and a yellow-lid recycling cart, and items must be at the curb by 7 a.m. on service day. Furniture you are leaving behind can go out as a free bulky pickup, but it has to be scheduled with Waste Management first, and refrigerators need certification that they are free of freon. Oversized moving boxes are collected once a month: select Mondays in Alden Bridge, Cochran's Crossing and Sterling Ridge, and select Fridays in the remaining villages and Town Center.
Wooded lots are part of the appeal here, and they shape where a truck can sit. Township standards prohibit parking on lawns, ditches and open space, so we stage on the driveway or street and lay runners along longer walks to the door. If your home has a porte-cochere or low branches over the drive, we check clearance before backing in. For moves within a single village, a smaller truck and a two- or three-person crew is often enough, which keeps the hourly total down.
FAQ's
Answers for people moving a short distance in and around The Woodlands.
Local moves are hourly, so you pay for the time the crew actually spends. Stairs and long carries are not extra. The deposit equals the two-hour minimum and is fully refundable with 48 or more hours' notice. Specialty items such as gun safes or pianos may carry a small handling fee, always quoted before you book.
Flatten them and put them in your yellow-lid recycling cart, along with packing paper. If you have more than fits, The Woodlands Township offers a free monthly curbside cardboard collection by village. Schedule it with Waste Management at least two business days before your village's date and stack the tied bundles beside your carts by 7 a.m.
Yes. We handle moves from any Woodlands village to any other, and between The Woodlands and nearby communities like Spring and Tomball, plus the rest of greater Houston. Each of these is billed on our hourly local model, and weekend dates cost the same as weekdays.
No. Township covenants prohibit parking on lawns, ditches, open space and other unpaved areas. We park on the driveway or the street instead and lay floor protection along the path into the house. Long carries are not billed extra, so a farther walk from the truck does not add surprise charges.
Yes. We move uprights, baby grands and grands, gun safes (including up or down stairs), hot tubs and slate pool tables. Slate tables need advance notice and a specialty crew. These oversized pieces may have a small specialty handling fee, which is always quoted up front.
