Travis County holds the state capital, three Colorado River lakes and fast-growing towns on both sides of Austin. Tera Moving plans moves here around lake roads, high-rise rules and toll-road suburbs.
Travis County moves
County at a glance
Travis County was created in 1840 and named for William B. Travis, who commanded Texas forces at the Alamo. Austin serves as both county seat and state capital. Besides Austin, the county includes Pflugerville, Manor, Lakeway, Lago Vista, Bee Cave, West Lake Hills, Rollingwood and Sunset Valley, so a single county move can run from a downtown condo to a ranch-style home on a cul-de-sac.
The Colorado River crosses the county from west to east and forms Lake Travis, Lake Austin and Lady Bird Lake. The county also straddles the Balcones Fault, with the Edwards Plateau on the west and Blackland Prairie on the east. Practically, the west side brings hills, switchback driveways and lake access roads, while the eastern half is flatter and easier for a full-size moving truck.
Neighboring counties are Williamson to the north, Bastrop to the southeast, Caldwell to the south, Hays to the southwest, Blanco to the west and Burnet to the northwest. Several cities cross county lines. Round Rock and Pflugerville each reach into both Travis and Williamson counties, and Cedar Park has a small Travis County portion, so addresses near the line are common on our schedule.
FAQ's
Answers to common questions about moving within Travis County.
Yes. Many Travis County towers require a certificate of insurance and a reserved elevator before movers can enter. We provide COIs on request at no extra cost and work with building management on dock access and timing so your move fits the window the building gives you.
We serve Austin and the rest of the county, including Lakeway, Pflugerville, Manor, Bee Cave, Lago Vista, West Lake Hills and Rollingwood. We also handle moves that cross into Williamson, Hays or Bastrop counties, which is common for families relocating within the region.
It can be. Homes around Lake Travis and Lake Austin often sit on steep lots with long stairways. We do not charge extra for stairs or long carries, but we want to know about them early so we send enough movers and the right truck.
