Serving the first village
The original village
Grogan's Mill takes its name from the Grogan-Cochran Lumber Company, the last sawmill to operate in the area, which sold the first 2,800 acres to George Mitchell. Development began in 1972, and the village opened with The Woodlands on October 19, 1974. It now includes about 5,100 homes across 22 neighborhoods, including Grogan's Point, Wilding Estates, Fairway Oaks, Millbend Forest and Timber Top, mostly in ZIP code 77380.
Because it was built first, many homes date to the 1970s and early 1980s, with tall pines and oaks over the lots. Estate neighborhoods started in 1980, and Grogan's Point, first planned as an equestrian community, set the pattern for later ones. For moves, older floor plans and low branches over driveways can both come into play, so we check clearances during the walkthrough and plan furniture disassembly where needed.
The village center has been rebuilt. A land swap between Montgomery County Precinct 3 and Howard Hughes resulted in a renovated retail center in summer 2025 and the Kevin Brady Library and Community Center, which opened in September 2025 at 2250 Buckthorne Place on a former grocery site. The Woodlands Resort, three golf courses, Sawmill and Tamarac parks and a Saturday farmers market round out the village.
